An interesting little mixture from various sources.

ZeroHedge reporting on a Reuters headline :

US MILITARY SAYS REPOSITIONING FORCES IN AREA AROUND LIBYA TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY, OPTIONS

While Pravda has the following on Syria’s probably development of Nuclear facilities (last bombed by Israel in 2007) :

It seems that Syria does have serious “nuclear troubles.” If earlier the country was blamed for the secret development of a nuclear program by Israel alone, now the Americans have joined these charges. The Washington Institute for Science and National Security (ISIS) has recently published a series of photographs made from spy satellites that captured strange building in Syria. In this regard, U.S. experts do not rule out the fact that they are secret nuclear facilities.
In particular it concerns an object located at a military base near the town of Marj al-Sultan. According to the American side, it was intended to be used for the enrichment of uranium from a special concentrate called “yellow cake.” From there, Syrians allegedly planned to deliver the ready raw material to the reactor at Al Kibar (Dair al-Zure) destroyed by Israeli aircraft in September of 2007. According to the intelligence services of the Jewish state, North Korean experts helped the Syrians to build the reactor. Some of them were killed during the Israeli strike.

Yet, there is more to it. In addition to Marj al-Sultan, two more nuclear facilities meant to serve the needs of Al-Kibar were identified in Syria. It is worth mentioning that earlier Damascus has flatly refused to let IAEA inspectors on its territory to verify reports that Syria was developing its own nuclear program.

Certainly, this has caused further suspicions about the true intentions of the Assad regime. With regard to the Syrian-North Korean relations, in the last 15 years they have evolved incrementally. The Syrians regularly visit North Korea stopping by the DPRK’s nuclear facilities.

This breeds a suspicion that Syria, with the support of North Korea, is also developing nuclear weapons.

And the UK?

Well, David Cameron has jumped headfirst into the dressing up box and found a partly motheaten set of statemans clothes (circa 1928 British Empire) so he can stick his chest out, make imperial sounding noises and totally ignore the country going to the dogs around our ears :

Libya: Cameron proposes no-fly zone to protect Libyan people from attacks by Gaddafi loyalists

Britain will work allies on plans to enforce a no-fly zone in Libya to protect its people from military attacks by Muammar Gaddafi’s government, David Cameron has told the House of Commons.

“We do not in any way rule out the use of military assets,” Mr Cameron said.

“We must not tolerate this regime using military force against its own people. In that context I have asked the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of the Defence Staff to work with our allies on plans for a military no-fly zone.”

As I see it, the only no fly zone in the world is here in the UK as we have scrapped the best part of our defences already whilst continuing to hose money around on Healthy Start vouchers (being spent on fags and booze) amongst other things.

I suppose we could always send the Battle of Britain memorial flight?

Anyway, it shouldn’t be too long before Israel has a strop (again) and bombs a few neighbours, whilst in the rest of the world, the number of countries not revolting will soon be in the minority :

Yes, China may be the most repressive regime when push comes to shove, but should 1+ billion angry and hungry Chinese decide there is nothing all that unique about China compared to Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Ivory Coast, Vietnam, North Korea, Djibouti and countless more to come, not even the most convincing “blanketing” by police forces will do much of anything to prevent the only revolution that matters.

All quiet on the western front then?

Interesting times indeed and they will most likely get a whole lot more interesting before it is all over.
