Going to Tenerife soon? Be careful not to lose your head – literally.

Not the kind of thing you read every day, especially in a popular tourist resort :

A British woman has been beheaded in a supermarket on the Spanish resort island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spanish authorities have announced.

Officials in Tenerife identified the victim as a 62-year-old British woman.

The suspect, believed to be a 28-year-old homeless Bulgarian man with a police record, was detained by security guards after he ran out of the supermarket in a shopping centre in Los Cristianos with the head in his hands.

Security staff chased the man and rugby tackled him. The events took place shortly after 10am (0900 GMT).

Manuel Reveron, a local a councillor said: “Apparently this gentleman without any motive or any reason, although for this there is no reasoning, entered the shop and then cut this woman’s neck and took the head in his hand outside up to the sidewalk.

A witness told broadcaster Cadena Ser that he saw the man drop a bloodstained woman’s head on the pavement after coming out of the shop.

Beware homeless Bulgarian men it seems.

I am left wondering what exactly he used to perform the decapitation though but it is a Telegraph article so best not to expect too much is it now.

You can write what you like, yes, but it’s generally thought that being vile and cruel isn’t the best way to go about things. That’s not very constructive, is it? That sort of attitude doesn’t make anyone laugh, it doesn’t make anyone feel better, it isn’t well written. So what was the point of what you wrote?
And yes, it’s vile to make light of something so awful- to you she may be an anonymous character in a story, or something, but it actually happened, and we’ve got enough insanity with the guy who did it without you adding something sick and twisted to the scenario.

Ruth – it may be generally thought but it doesn’t mean you have to conform, sheep like, just because black humour isn’t appreciated by all. I am not even sure where constructive comes into it either but never mind.
I will write what I want to and you can be offended if you choose to be so – that is all there is to it.

So- let me get this straight: you think I’m a conformist-sheep because I’m not vile and cruel? Okay, then. Guess it’s the single thing in the world I DO conform to, and I’m proud of it.
If you weren’t trying to be constructive, goodness knows what you were aiming for.
And, lastly, you should know- there’s a world of difference between black humour and being nasty- if you were even close to being a decent writer, that would have been more clear.

I know more about you from this “piece” than you’ll ever know about me, so I had been interested to see how you responded. Good job my expectations were low!

Ruth – my impression from your initial comment was that I should not write these things because “most” people consider them to be in bad taste and that shouldn’t be allowed – the world would be a very bland place if everything was beige coloured uniformity. “You” was intended generally and not at yourself personally.
I assume you object to the headline more than anything in the post? The other three lines are neither here nor there other than a comment of surprise and a remark about the Daily Telegraph doing a cut and paste job from whichever newswire they found the story as is unfortunately common in the mainstream media these days.
I will still write what wish and you are, of course, entitled to say what you like in return, although your point would have been all the more powerful if you had not resorted to insults in the final paragraph.

“And, lastly, you should know- there’s a world of difference between black humour and being nasty”

Indeed, but that’s subjective, isn’t it?

Very clever headline there, very funny, well done!
In case you failed to realise, a woman was horrifically decapitated. Perhaps the smart a**e genius who thought this up should think before he/she spews their poorly written and second rate c**p out for the world to read.
    Pathetic!

    • Wasp

You mean she actually had her head cut off?

Well I never would have realised unless you pointed it out.

I will write what I like thank you just as you are free to ignore what you don’t like reading.
